Hi, I’m Amy.
I’m a web developer and designer with 12+ years of professional website development experience. I specialize in front‑end and WordPress development, with a particular love for building websites that are beautiful, functional, and maintainable. Because I am experienced working on both design and development, I can think through how a site should look and feel while also considering how it will be built, how it will respond across devices, and how easily it can evolve over time.
My work spans the full life of a website, from early concepts, information architecture, wireframes, and visual design through front‑end development, custom WordPress builds, integrations, launch, and ongoing support. I’ve spent my career working with organizations of very different shapes and sizes, from large technology companies, higher education, and established brands to nonprofits, small businesses, and independent artists. Projects have included work for Redaptive, Russian Riverkeeper, HenHouse Brewing, Nutiva, Cypress Grove, and artist Heather Doyle-Maier. That variety has made me comfortable adapting to different teams, technical requirements, budgets, and workflow.
My path into development grew over time. I graduated from Cal Poly in 2011 with a degree in Graphic Communication, specializing in Design Reproduction Technology. The program combined design with the technical side of print production, teaching me to think not only about what something looks like, but how it gets made. I began my career in Los Angeles as a prepress technician at BurdgeCooper before eventually making the leap into web development. In 2014, I joined Kiosk, where I spent five years building websites, applications, e-commerce experiences, and integrations while developing the technical foundation that shapes my work today.
The combination of design and production influences how I approach every project. I like turning an idea into something that works beautifully in the real world, whether that means figuring out a complex responsive layout, creating a flexible content system in WordPress, or finding a solution that gives a client more control over their own site. I also care about making technology understandable, less intimidating, and working collaboratively with the people who will actually use what I build.
Dance is a huge part of my life, whether I’m taking class, teaching, or supporting the local dance community as a board member of ABQ Dance Connect. Beyond the studio, I find plenty of other ways to keep moving, whether it’s hiking the Sandias with my pitsky, Pepper, playing a round of disc golf with my dad, or spending a day snowboarding.
When I’m ready to slow down, I love to settle in with a good video game or shuffle up a Commander deck for a game of Magic: The Gathering. I also love making things with my hands and have a growing interest in sustainable fashion. In particular I like sewing my own clothes, thrifting, and mending. Lastly, I love to eat! I’m always discovering and saving new recipes, cooking them (even though the list is ever-growing!), and organizing plans around a good meal.
