About

Albuquerque Dance Connect needed a website that better reflected its growth from a grassroots community resource into an established nonprofit organization. I completely redesigned and rebuilt the existing Squarespace site in WordPress, creating a more professional digital presence alongside a connected ecosystem for events, classes, community resources, submissions, registrations, and donations.

Approach

Having worked extensively with the previous site and within the organization, I had a firsthand understanding of where both the user experience and internal workflows were falling short. I restructured the site's content into clearer, more accessible sections and expanded the organization's relatively simple visual identity into a more ownable brand through typography, color, and reusable brand elements.

Behind the scenes, I built a custom site architecture using custom post types, taxonomies, ACF, and purpose-built templates to connect content throughout the site and eliminate duplication. Events can automatically populate relevant areas of the site based on type, while custom systems support class registration, community event submissions, directories, and other frequently updated resources.

The result is a site that works more efficiently for both ADC and the community it serves. Community members can submit events directly for review, turning what was previously a tedious copy-and-paste process into a publish-ready workflow. For the board, interconnected content and streamlined editing make the site significantly easier to maintain while giving ADC a digital presence that better represents the scope and impact of its work.
