Henhouse
About
HenHouse Brewing needed a complete redesign of its existing website to better capture the personality of the brand and the ever changing breadth of beers they offer. I redesigned and rebuilt the site in WordPress, expanding its content and creating dedicated systems for an extensive beer collection, taproom locations, events, food trucks, and other frequently changing information.
Approach
HenHouse had a wonderfully playful visual identity and distinctive can artwork, but a relatively limited set of brand elements for translating that personality to the web. I expanded that visual language with new design elements and interactions that complement the existing brand while keeping the incredible label artwork at the center. For special releases, including the brewery's conspiracy-themed beers, I created unexpected screen takeovers and other playful moments that let the personality of individual beers spill into the experience.
Behind the scenes, the site was designed to be just as flexible. I reorganized the content architecture and built an intuitive WordPress system around the information the HenHouse team changes most often, including beers, locations, food truck schedules, and events. After launch, I trained the team to manage the site independently. Three years later, they continue to actively maintain and evolve it themselves.
